Asian Markets finally move Upward
As Kramer would say 'gitty up'. Thanks to the relatively 'good' news from the Fed Asian stocks jumped Thursday for the first time in six days. The Fed said risks to U.S. growth have diminished, however those calming words can't help Michael Richards' career.
June 26 (Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rose for the first time in six days, led by financial stocks, after the Federal Reserve said risks to U.S. growth have diminished.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index gained 0.6 percent to 139.05 as of 10:48 a.m. in Tokyo. All 10 industry groups on the benchmark gained, led by a measure of financial shares. The index has fallen 12 percent this year.
Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average added 0.2 percent to 13,861.25, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Index gained 1.6 percent. All Asian benchmark indexes rose today apart from Malaysia, which was little changed.
As for Kramer?
Since appearing as the scene-stealing Kramer in Seinfeld, Richards' career has been dormant. A television spin-off, The Michael Richards Show, was dropped after a few episodes, and other than his one-man comedy act and a brief stint in a West End production of Arsenic and Old Lace, Richards career has consisted of giving interviews for Seinfeld DVD compilations.
In November 2006, controversy arose concerning racial epithets Richards shouted at black hecklers during a live comedy show. He apologized for his statements a few days after the show but it was too late.
In July 2007, Richards announced that he has retired from stand-up comedy for "spiritual healing" purposes and would be traveling with his fiancée to Cambodia, where they would visit Angkor Wat, as well as more remote temples, on a tour sponsored by the Los Angeles-based Nithyananda Foundation. We're sure its going well.
